Dr. Shelly Ward Richards
Dear BCS families,
The Berlin Community School is a great place to learn not only for the students but for the staff as well. We continue to learn best practices in education and implement those practices into the daily instruction. With the whole child in mind, we place significant importance on teaching the 6 Pillars of Character Education to our students. This year's character education theme is All Stars. We feel that every student is an All Star in their own way and has the qualities to do great things. As educators, it is our responsibility to foster those qualities by giving the students the opportunity to build relationships, explore, create, and question as they learn.
Please take some time to review the website as it houses some very valuable information about all the school has to offer our families. On the front page of the website, you can find the calendar of events and the morning announcements. The Genesis Parent Portal houses your child’s information and you can access the portal by using the log in and password information that the school has provided to you. The PALS/CER page is such a great resource to parents as it offers many after school programs.
Other ways to find out information is to sign up for Dr. Richards’ REMIND. This is an app that will send short reminders to your cell phone. Also, look out for my Highlights which are emailed to parents as well as posted on the front page of the website. Highlights let parents know in a twitter type fashion what is going on in the school.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. I am a firm believer that a parent is a child's first teacher and is their best advocate. I look forward to being a part of your child's education.
Have an ALL STAR year!
Shelly Ward Richards, Ed.D.
