Third and Fourth Grade
In order to qualify for the 3rd or 4th grade identified program, students must have the highest number of accumulated points on the Gifted and Talented Matrix. Placement in the 3rd through 4th grade identified group is a more permanent placement than in the kindergarten through second grade groupings. Students meet for two 45-minute periods a week.
Identification Process for students in Grades 3-4:
- Third Grade:
- Cognitive Skills Test- Administered at the end of 2nd Grade **Highest identifying factor**
- IXL Scores- Language Arts and Math Score (Above Grade Level)
- HMH ELA Score (Above Grade Level)
- Report Card Grades (Exceeds Expectations in Reading and Math)
- Fountas and Pinnell Reading Level (Above Grade Level)
- Teacher Recommendation
- Fourth Grade:
- Cognitive Skills Test- Administered at the end of 2nd Grade **Highest identifying factor**
- NJSLA Scores- Reading and Math (Advanced Proficient)
- IXL Scores- Language Arts and Math (Above Grade Level)
- HMH ELA Score (Above Grade Level)
- Report Card Grades-1 point will be awarded for each A received in Language Arts and Math
- Fountas and Pinnell Reading Level (Above Grade Level)
- Teacher Recommendation

Program Ideas:
All units of study will meet New Jersey Student Learning Standards utilizing diverse subject areas through a variety of learning methods. The units will be student-driven according to their specific needs and interests.
