As your interim superintendent, it is an honor to serve the Berlin Community School community with a focus on programs that support all children academically, socially, and emotionally. For more than twenty-eight years, I have been honored to serve South Jersey school districts in both teaching and leadership roles.
My professional journey started in Winslow Township where I taught grades 3-5 for ten years. My first leadership role, more than 17 years ago, began as a supervisor of grants, where I had the unique opportunity to establish and create an after-school program for the at-risk population at Winslow Township Middle School. I have served as both an elementary and middle school principal as well as a curriculum supervisor of ELA & Social Studies. Most recently, I led a small school district serving students in PK - 6th grade.
My heart has always been with leading small school districts because it gives me an opportunity to play a vital role in all aspects of the daily operations of a school district. Response to intervention, special education, and preschool expansion are among my greatest passions because these programs provide opportunity for a child to thrive when given new or different experiences.
The path that led me to Berlin Community School has enabled me to understand my responsibilities as a leader through several lenses. Most importantly, the children are my north star. Child advocacy has become my life’s work; when any child crosses the threshold, they become my responsibility and I treat every decision I make as if I were a parent taking care of my own child.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brenda Harring

Welcome to the Berlin Borough School Business Office!
I am thrilled to be a part of the BCS community. I began working in the public school sector in 2015 while also earning my MBA from Wilmington University - eventually navigating my way to my new home here at BCS.
The business office oversees district finances, building & grounds along with transportation, benefits and payroll.
The role of a business administrator comes with many hats, but the focus and dedication to our students and community is at the forefront of every business decision.
Respectfully,
Kristen Mari

Dear families and community members of Berlin Borough,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, as it is a time for fresh starts and new opportunities. My name is Shaitra Flores, and it is an honor and pleasure to be part of BCS as Director of Curriculum and Instruction. As we enter into a new school year, I want to take a moment to introduce myself.
I have been an educator for 19 school years. I hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology, a Master’s Degree in School Administration, and a doctoral degree in General Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education. During my 19 years of experience in education, I taught grades from preschool through fifth grade, as both a public and private school teacher, and I held the administrative positions of Assistant Director at a preschool and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at a private school. Personally, I am the mother of a 17-year-old high school junior, so I consider myself lucky to have experience as a parent as well. I believe that a strong education is the result of a successful partnership between students, school, families, and the community, for students to reach their academic, social, physical, and emotional milestones and goals.
I am honored to work alongside so many wonderful administrators, teachers, staff, families, and community members who give back and support this school. We can all be very proud of this community that supports the education of the children who attend BCS. I am excited to see the growth and success of your children, our school, and the community. I look forward to working with you to ensure a wonderful academic year for your children!
Best wishes,
Dr. Shaitra Flores

Hello friends and families of the Berlin Borough School District,
I would like to introduce myself as the new Director of Special Services at BCS. I have been an educator for 20 years. I hold a Teacher of the Handicapped certificate and have taught in a variety of instructional settings over my career. In 2015, I earned a Master's in Reading and a Reading Specialist certificate to work as a district intervention coach. For the last five years, I served as a Supervisor of Special Services before transitioning to my position here in Berlin.
I know it can be an overwhelming challenge to learn that your child may have a disability. I am passionate about providing both staff and students with the support they need to be successful in their educational careers. The staff members who work in Berlin Borough and the Special Education Department are here because they are dedicated to serving children and giving back to the community. Please know that you are supported and that we are ready to assist.
I look forward to working together to establish a solid foundation of support for the community and its children.
Respectfully,
Ashley Power

Dear Berlin Community School Students and Families,
My name is Therese Bonmati and it is with great pleasure that I have this opportunity to introduce myself as the new middle school principal at Berlin Community School. I look forward to building strong lines of communication between home and school so that all students are supported in their educational journey.
I am honored to be entering my 24th year in education with the Berlin Community School. I spent my first sixteen years in the classroom and the last eight years as a high school assistant principal. I can assure you that I know what your children need to be successful upon entering high school. My goal is to make sure that BCS students are the most prepared students transitioning to high school.
I look forward to working with our faculty, staff, fellow administrators to provide BCS students the opportunity to be challenged and excel while supporting them during this transition back to a more regular school schedule. There may be bumps in the road and I am ready to help smooth them over and fill in any pot holes before they are encountered.
Your voice is important and valued, so please share with me your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. I plan to host open hours for meetings with parents and guardians during the summer and after the new school year begins. It is an integral part of the school community.
Kind regards,
Therese Bonmatí,
