It is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve the Berlin Borough School District as the Superintendent. Since 1998, I have taught, coached, supervised, and led in many different roles for several different school districts and programs. My success has always been rooted in my ability to keep myself and others on my team focused on the children as the main priority. As adults, we are blessed with the responsibility of helping to raise children to be successful adults. My role is to support the efforts of everyone who works together to ensure our students are educated in a safe and supportive environment. I hope that you and your family have a great school year. If you have any questions or concerns during the school year, please be sure to reach out to the person directly responsible for your concern so our communication can be as productive as possible in our district. When we communicate effectively, our students are the ones who benefit. Thank you. 

Ms. Julie Crossan

Dear Berlin Borough School District Families and Community,

It is an honor to serve as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Berlin Borough School District. I bring more than 25 years of experience in education, with a background that spans grades PK–8. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, literacy and math coach, Director of Early Childhood, and Curriculum Director. Each of these experiences has helped shape the way I support teaching and learning today.

In this role, my priorities include strengthening curriculum, empowering educators, and helping every student reach their full potential. When we support teachers in their growth, we ultimately strengthen the entire school community. I am committed to collaborating with staff, families, and the community to create strong, supportive learning environments for all students.

I look forward to partnering with families, staff, and the entire Berlin Borough School District community in the important work of educating and supporting our students. Together, we can create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where all learners (and the educators who support them) can grow and thrive.

Ms. Lindsay Hickman

Dear Berlin Community School Students and Families, 

My name is Lindsay Hickman, and I am the new Elementary Principal here at Berlin Community School. I feel highly privileged to be given this opportunity to be Principal at BCS. I look forward to meeting all of you and working with you to provide our students with the best education possible. I will work to keep the lines of communication open and build a positive partnership between home and school. 

I am currently in my 17th year in education. I attended Rowan University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Certificate of the Handicapped. I went on to attend Delaware Valley College where I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. In my previous district, I worked as a Special Education Teacher, a Preschool Teacher and a Preschool Instructional Coach. For the last 10 years, I have served as a Head Teacher and assisted administration with the overflow of needs.

It is my privilege to lead Berlin Community Elementary School and the many talented teachers and students here! My goal is to provide a supportive climate and culture at BCS that is conducive to teaching and learning not just for the students but for the staff as well.  By doing so, each individual student and teacher can experience growth to their highest potential. I look forward to interacting with all stakeholders in our school community this year!
