Under the requirements of the federally funded No Child Left Behind legislation, school districts are required to inform you of your right to make inquiries regarding the qualifications of our teaching staff. The law requires that all teachers must meet a specific legal definition of “highly qualified” in order to teach in schools that receive federal funding. The legal definition of “highly qualified” requires teachers to have a four-year college degree, a teaching certificate or license, and/or demonstrate their expertise through a combination of college coursework, professional development activities, and years of teaching experience.
We are extremely proud of the teaching staff in the Berlin Community School; 100% of our staff meets the federal requirements. All of our teachers have a four-year college degree and valid teaching certificate as required by the state of New Jersey. Many of our teachers have advanced degrees as well.
In order to comply with the requirements of the law, we wish to inform you that you are entitled to ask about the teaching credentials of your child’s teacher(s). Should you wish to have this information, please contact the appropriate building principal.
