Mrs. Beth Steinen

  • Beth Steinen

Mrs. Steinen grew up outside of Seattle, WA and graduated from the University of Washington, where she earned a degree in Comparative History of Ideas.  After satisfying her wanderlust, Mrs. Steinen settled in New Jersey and earned a Master’s degree in Education from Montclair University. She was a high school history and sociology teacher in the Hackettstown school district, before relocating with her family to South Jersey.  Mrs. Steinen then enjoyed the next five years as a Literacy and Media Technology teacher in Mays Landing, teaching at the William Davies Middle School. As a teacher-leader and department chairperson, Mrs. Steinen was involved in all aspects of the school: character education, curriculum, technology integration, STEAM, safety, and more.

While in North Jersey, Mrs. Steinen earned her Supervision certification from Centenary College. She finished Rowan University’s Educational Leadership program in 2016, earning a second Master’s degree. Mrs. Steinen is also the Curriculum Coordinator for the AAUW’s Tech Trek, a summer STEAM camp at Stockton University for select eighth grade girls. Additionally, Mrs. Steinen taught at Stockton University as an adjunct professor for first-year writing.

Mrs. Steinen’s philosophy mirrors one often attributed to Aristotle: “Educating the mind, without educating the heart, is no education at all.” She has spent the last thirteen years focusing on the whole child, building relationships with each student so that every child can achieve. As Director of Instruction, Achievement, and Student Activities, Mrs. Steinen will work with the Berlin Community School’s teachers to ensure that all students experience success in a myriad of ways.

Mrs. Steinen lives near the shore, with her husband, three daughters (ages 11, 8, and 8), and spotty dog (age unknown).

We look forward to Mrs. Steinen joining the BCS team in October!
